Notes about Front Bearing/hub assymbly
Federal-Mogul/BCA/National S-513012
This is the right part number, but you will need to make the following modifications in order to use it:
1. (Easy) Drill the bottom two mounting holes out to half inch.
2. (Not so easy) Drill and tap a quarter inch 20 tpi hole in the center of the inside spindle to attach the speedometer bolt. I used a lathe to do this, as it is critical that this hole be centered and square.
Also, a warning about the cheap Chinese hub available at NAPA. Don't be impatient like I was and settle for the Chinese version when the SKF version is not available. I wanted to ride Saturday and could only get the Chinese units by the next day. I drilled the holes out and fitted the passager side unit, only to find the studs were so badly aligned that I couldn't get the brake rotor back on. Needless to say, I returned both hubs and waited for them to order in the SKF units.
Hope this helps someone else, Gary |
