Is this the 800lb gorilla in the forum???
Why is nobody talking about the release of the Polaris Slingshot?
Are we all worried it could be the T-Rex killer?
Looks like quite a toy for around 20 grand!
Not to mention it will have dealers all over the US where you can get parts and service.
Any thoughts??? |

well its a 1725 pound gorilla using a gm ecotec 2.4cyl motor and a 5 speed manual trans with no mention of reverse that I saw, might I add 130mph top speed.... looks aside I am happy to see another three-wheeler on the market but I do not see this being a Trex killer |

No arguments on the T-Rex winning in the looks department and 1743 lbs. wet does seem a bit porky, but with 166 ft. lbs. of torque, I don't think it will have a problem pulling out of a corner.
I'm sure it will have a reverse built right into that automotive gearbox. (one that will actually work)
Personally, I can't wait to test drive one in the twisties and see how it handles.
I won't be trading in my T-Rex, but 24K with a stereo, backup camera and windshield will be hard to pass up if it handles anything like reasonable.
Definitely be interesting to see how many they can sell at that price. |

It s not gona kill the T-REX with a Kawasaki motor , but with the news BMW, with 162 hp. Reverse replace 4 times within a year. Not beeing track worthy. Campagna do not put it on the track for Customer demo anymore, THEY HAVE BEEN USING AN RR WITH BMW WHEEL ON. LOL Why, blow a motor on a unit and trans on the second for the firts track day. When you blow the motor, they tell you it s because , it s been use on the track. Is the slighshoot more reliable, no doubt. It will be a lot easier for parts and service. T-rex beeing 3 x the price. Scarry . Would I buy a BMW, NO. If you are buying a performance machine, buy with a kawa motor. The motor from Polaris , could be easelie modifiy to 300 hp, just like with do in the Soltice by GM. Polaris look, well it look like it was desing by 3 diffirent guys. Front, side, and rear. I don t think they talk to each other. The one that did the front did good. He should talk to the other now. LOL |

Yes, the styling is interesting to say the least. After seeing one in the flesh, I imagine the last project meeting before release, went something like this:
Design manager: "We are still working on a stylish way to encapsulate the rear wheel and swing arm"
Chief Accountant: "What did you say the price point was on this thing?"
Sales Manager: "20K"
Chief Accountant: "20K? Stick a rear wheel on that thing and ship it!"
CEO: "You heard the man. Ship it." |
