Need help!

Does anyone know what size the steering rack and pinion spline is on a 2004 / 1200?

After looking at it and counting the teeth, I assumed it was a standard 5/8 - 36 tooth spline, but I can't seem to fit a 5/8 -36 universal joint onto it.

I am hoping it is not some wierd metric size.

If anyone is wondering why I am messing with this, I am trying to change the way my hand controls function so I can use the throttle while keeping both hands on the wheel.

I ended up cutting the old shaft and I am planning to reuse the existing connection piece with a new steering shaft.

After measuring it, I think it must be 11/16 - 36, but that seems like a strange size, so I would still appreciate it, if someone has the specifications and could confirm that, or maybe let me know who makes the steering box.
