Is anyone familiar with a knocking noise that comes when you accelerate in any gear. As I speed up so does the noise. Its not coming from the engine. Not sure how to expain any other way. Any and all help would be appreciated. |

Jack up the rear start rex,put in gear--look for chain, bearing and sprocket noise--and lube the chain its the easiest way! |

Do what Loki said. If there is noise other than chain, then remove the rear axel and check the bearings. It will be obvious if it is bad. _________________ 2010 White/Silver 14RR

If you can connect an oil pressure guage to the motor, then you can determine if your bearings are bad. If the oil pressure increases/decreases in smooth gradual steps, your bearings are fine, However, if the guage flickers, your bearings are bad. Ignoring the problem could end up with a rod through the side of the engine.
If it is a bearing problem, your crank is probably scored. Solution is a new crank. Bottom line, sounds like you have an EXPEN$IVE problem. Cheap solution in the future is to change the oil regularly and a new oil filter at each change. _________________ 2007 T-Rex 1400R - BMW Laguna Seca Blue -Turbo Powered

no no no no.........the bearing in the rear wheel......not the motor.....he said it's speed up with the speed of the bike......it's a wheel bearing for sure.......
if it was the motor it will do it even in idle....... _________________ si ca marche pas.....prend un marteau

I had the same noise coming from the rear end two years ago and I went right for the bearings. Turned out there was a kink in the chain and each time it went around the sproket it would make a loud clunking noise. I soaked the chain in kerosine and then lubed it up. Noise was gone. Rick was a huge help on this. Try the chain first. Go slow and if you hear the clunk less frequent then you do at high speed I would go with the chain. If not then def the bearings. My two cents. |
