I have been searching the internet for a good video or step by step directions for removing anf cleaning carbs on a 1200 motor. I have not been able to find one. Just wondering if anyone has a link to a good tutorial on cleaning the carbs. Thanks.
Oh yes and is it hard to do? |

Call me buddy and I will sit down with a glass of Bacardi (maybe a bottle) and walk you through this. Go to the parts store and pick up a few bottles of Carb cleaner and be sure to have an air compressor. Talk to ya soon. _________________ X-treme-toyz.net

May I suggest you get a shop manual on a ZX-12R. Very useful reference guide. Should be SOP for every T-Rex 12R owner. _________________ 2007 T-Rex 1400R - BMW Laguna Seca Blue -Turbo Powered

Well spent all day cleaning the carbs. Found lots of slicks in one fuel well. Cleaned all and scrubed all the jets and what not. Had some problems, thanks wayne for the upteen phone calls, but throttle response now is awesome. The throttle is smooth now.
OK now the bad news, if anyone cares. Still have a bucking going on.....clean carbs, new plugs, all hoses connected properly with no holes...any other suggestions?
Thanks, |

Is there a fuel pump relay on an 03 rex? I have heard that when older model kawasaki engines are starving for fuel they sputter and buck such as mine is doing. I did have an issue where all my relays blew this winter, both radiator and headlights. I was wondering if you there was a relay for the pumps and if so where is it.
Thanks again.
Oh yes I already changed plugs, wires, fuel filter and I cleaned the carbs along with the vacum hoses. |

There is a fuel pump regulator on the firewall behind the drivers headrest, it should be set on #3. Have the carbs been sync 'ed ? |

Went to a motorcycle tunning shop last week and the guy looked at the carbs and said that they were sync'd. The guy said he would have to get into the entire bike to try and figure out the problem and he is backed up until October. Just trying to salvage some of the riding season. |

Try using some GOOD injector cleaner via adding to the gas tank.
I had this problem on a old CBX Honda. I used double-triple doses of
injector cleaner, as I didn't feel like rebuilding six carbs.
It took a few tanks, buy did clear up 98% of the problems.
Might be a long shot, but worth a try until October.
Geez
I used Lucas - Deep Injector Cleaner - about $ 12.00 at Autozone. |

Well after a summer of crappy riding because of serious bucking issues I finally found the problem. I replaced bearings, dampners, fuel filter, plug wires, coil packs, cleaned carbs and synced them properly, changed spark plugs twice and still no results. Well the final thing I did was cut the cahin off and replaced chain and sprockets. Turns out the chain was missing six rollers in a row. I replaced chain and brand its a new machine. I have a new found love for the rex. I am ready to drive cross country now. Just in time to put it up for the winter. Well next spring I will be a very happy rex owner again. Thanks for everyones advice. |
