Toe out 1/16"
Means that the center-line of the tires are 1/16 farther apart at the front of the tire than at the rear.
Camber -0.5deg
Means that the top of the tire leans inward 1/2 of a degree. 0° caster would indicate that the wheel is perfectly vertical, when looking from the top. This is done to accommodate for the tires "roll" when in a corner so that the contact patch increases while cornering (when it is needed the most). This is why T-Rex's that are mainly straight line driven, wear the inside of the tire more than the outside.
Caster +3.5deg
Means that the top of the suspension pivot centerline leans 3.5° towards the rear of the vehicle. Example, a Chopper has TONS of caster.
Typically, the more +caster that a vehicle has, the more stable it will be at higher speeds and the steering wheel returns to center more easily. On the other hand, a vehicle with little caster will be "darty" at high speeds and have little, to no, steering wheel auto center. |
