first thing to check...
We find most of the time Oil found in the airbox is related to the crankcase being overfilled with oil.
When oil is overfilled, oil may be forced through the crankcase vent and carried into the airbox because of pressure.
BTW we see this on bikes with normal oil levels that like to stay in the Hi-rpm's (8/9k)
There is a tube that leads from the crank case up to the airbox for pollution which causes this - normal to have some oil.
do you have any pics as to how much oil there is? _________________ "OUT TO LUNCH" and not coming back. |

I was running the bike at abou the same rpm's never red line though. I will send pics when i get them off camera. It was filled with a lot in the back and in the front of the airbox. Now she doesn't start at all. Wayne working with factory to see what can be done. I am just pissed there are so many issues with this TREX, I have only driven it a handful of times. |

don’t take this wrong but it’s part of owning a T-Rex - the first few days, weeks, a or even few months are rough... even if you buy new or used there are things that need to get worked out. After the few small kinks get worked out you will have the most fun money can buy. I think we have a lot of members that would agree... _________________ "OUT TO LUNCH" and not coming back. |

Hold on... The man has a stock unit not a super sexy LED lit beast. Who has had little things / problems on the first unit they purchased? My first unit was a motha to get right my new unit (knock on wood) has been great. Owner ship is not only a payment but you have to earn it I know for a fact Muggz can agree.... ViperSS started in hell... And I know of a man who has been chosen a cruise control senese he drove 2000 miles. LoL (I do love you) truth is all T-Rex have little problem that need to get worked thru a lot of old units say the rear end, and the new units say brakes. Either way do not get scared it all works out and you will become happy. AND always remember don't ever over modify than you will have problems _________________ "OUT TO LUNCH" and not coming back. |

I hope you followed the breakin procedure for the first 500 miles. There is a drain hose that runs down the side of the engine next to the oil fill. In the manual, it says this hose is for if oil gets into the airbox. I assume you checked or drained that. Since this hose is there, I would assume they know oil can get into the airbox somehow. Is your filter oily? A paper filter won't breath with engine oil on it. I would replace air filter and charge the battery to see if it will start again. I think I just overfilled my oil after performing my first oil change ever on anything. I will check my airbox to see if there is oil after I hit the rev limited a few times. It also could be from the emmissions system like chickenfeet said. I read somewhere that someone had this problem but mistook the liquid as oil even though it was unburnt fuel. Just some thoughts...I am no way the expert. And my t-Rex problem was from what the previous owner did, not the factory. _________________ 2007 Blue T-Rex 1400R
