Well yesterday I spent all day fixing the Rex. I chased an oil leak which turned out to be from the water pump. After that I chased a reverse box leak to the outer seal, I changed all of them. I then had to fix my line lock, radio and then installed a 12 volt plug in the dash. Then I went to change the fluids while the nose was off. I have been having problems with the cluth and with the nose off I noticed that every time I pushed the clutch the rod would return out of the rubber boot covered in wet fluid. My question is if I need to buy the whole master clutch set up or can the cylinder be broken down and re-built. Is this a Kawaski part or a Trex part. Can you buy just the seals? If anyone has messed with this before I would appreciate any suggestions. I think I am lossing pedal pressure and the clutch is not fully engaging.

Hey I found a master cylinder. It is a Girling with the 5/8 bore. They are $164.00 at NAPA or on ebay there are two race shops that have them for way less. I looked for the repair kit and the price for a new one was the same as the repair kit.

Just in case anyone else was looking for one.

The NAPA part number I was given was UP39113. I brought my old one down and the guy went to the stock room and came back with the exact one. I left it there when I was told the price of $164.00 and went on ebay and typed in Girling 5/8. I will try to post the ebay link below of the speed shop I bought it from.

Does anyone know if it's the same m/c for the brakes?

I have a leaking seal in one of the brake master cylinders on my 2004.

I leave the T-Rex in Nth GA, so I can't just go out and check the partnumbers.

If any one knows, I would appreciate the information.

I think I have answered my own question.

From the parts list, it looks like the brake master cylinders are Wilwood combination remote mount kits with 3/4" bore.

P/N: 260-3374
Rebuild kit: 260-3880 according to Willwood site.
Rebuild kit 260-3881 according to Summit Racing.

I will add these to the Parts sticky once I confirm they are the correct units.

Correction to the Rebuild kit P/Ns in my last post:

The correct number for the 3/4" bore is: 260-3881

260-3880 is for the 5/8" bore as in the clutch master cylinder.

When I actually took a look at the brake master cylinder on the weekend, I discovered it is a Girling .75A and not Wilwood.

That is, a Girling remote resevoir unit with a 3/4 inch bore.

The Wilwood unit might work as a replacement, but I went ahead and ordered a new Girling from Averill Racing Stuff Inc. (racing-stuff.com) for $99 and a rebuild kit for $21.99, which seemed pretty reasonable.

I will install the new one and rebuild the old one as a spare.

I will post again once I recieve them to let others know how Averill Racing Stuff works out.

Received M/C and Rebuild kit from Averill Racing Stuff (racing-stuff.com) within two days.

Shipping was reasonable at $9.99. Parts were as advertised. The guy seemed to be friendly and knowledgeable, so I would recommend them to anyone who needs a new master cylinder.

Replaced the rear M/C with the new one and spent hours bleeding the darn brakes, trying to get a firm brake pedal.

When all else failed, I sent a text to Wayne, who responded within minutes and gave us the needed tip. rock

Apparently we had air trapped at the top of the rear caliper that even a power bleeder could not dislodge. Wayne told us to remove the caliper and position it so the bleeder was at the top. A couple of minutes later we had a firm brake pedal. cheers

By the way, if you find one of your brake master cylinders leaking, you might want to consider replacing both. After re-assembling everything, I immediately discovered that the front M/C also has a very slight leak. It was hard to notice while the rear was leaking so much faster, but with the new rear cylinder in place, it became more noticable. I suppose it makes sense. They are identical cylinders with the same amount of use. (I have about 45K on my 2003 model and about 95% of that is mountain riding)

I have installed the Rebuild Kit into the old cylinder and will use it to replace the front one next weekend.

Hopefully it will be time to ride then!!!
