Reason factory switched to 285 rear tires on newer models?

Anyone have any insight to this? Sorry if I overlooked it on the forum. I will be replacing the rear tire on my 05 here before long and was wondering if there was an advantage going to the 285 series tire. Obviously less contact surface may hinder straight line performance but this can likely be overcome with a stickier tire.

Ive noticed when doing u-turns or slow speed sharp turns the T-rex seems to under steer a bit and wondered if this is the reasoning for the factory going to a 285 series tire?

Get a set of nitto 555r fronts and the understeer is solved! The rear 315 is fine if u are aggressive!
