working a deal out on a 2007 Trex that is highly modded and workedup and needs some TLC put into it.
I have some questions!
this thing is a built motor and turbo'd intercooled, ect ect
the guy is telling me it needs a transmission. It was on the dyno and stripped the trans gears. hense why I am buying it.
can you guys fill me in and give me some help here.
How hard is the trans to rebuild? cost? can I upgrade the gears? any how too's?
thanks guys

Well! a turbo is not needed for a T-Rex but it’s a hell of lot of fun. Truth told a turbo Rex is a lot of work (maintenance)
but you will love it if you can get past the needed repairs and maintenance.
It’s not a hard repair to do but it’s labor intensive… you will have to pull the motor and crack the back half of the case then you are off and running with gear swap. Run a nice locking clutch and you should be fine.
Good luck… _________________ "OUT TO LUNCH" and not coming back. |

i spoke to the guys at r@d in clearwater FL this morning. they gave me a est of $450-600 to 100% rebuild anc cryo treat everything. I have no problem taking the motor out and shipping it to them. or, I have soem friends that are very motorcycle guys and one is a mechanic in a Kawi shop. Ill get some pics when everything is tightened up this weekend _________________ 2007 T-rex.. in a million peices |

that’s a decant price... most of the work is pulling the motor. Again just make sure you replace everything while they have it cracked. I suggest also pulling the 2/5 gear safety spring while the case is open. I say to do this because it doesn’t do anything for the T-Rex it’s only a safety precaution for a bike (makes it so you can’t start in 2nd gear) and it’s a huge pain in the ass if non T-Rex rider can’t figure out how to get the bike in gear are is in a false natural because of revers and start to pull pull pull, it could pop the spring out and then you have a bike that will not go into second gear... I have seen this happen two time with the T-Rex and the first time had thrown everyone even Kawi for a loop. Again good luck post some videos. Wait don’t post any videos it may make me want to turbo my 09 Rex _________________ "OUT TO LUNCH" and not coming back. |

lol I will hopefully post some cool vids after its up and running. I was able to get ahold of the engine builder in SC this morning. The motor is a stock crank with Eagle rods and JE pistons and is a staut bottom end. the turbo is a turbonetics 50 trim DBB. I think its a HUGE turbo but we will see.
as for a trans. I am going to start looking for a stock replacement that I can send to R@D and have them go through it, do the light mods like under cut the gears and a few other mods and cryo treat everything so I can just R+R the trans without having the trex apart for who knows how long. I will also let him know about the springs. _________________ 2007 T-rex.. in a million peices |
