This is a quick and inexpensive project that will clean up the right side of your instrument cluster. It relocates the starter button and engine cutoff switch to the center of the dash. The two replacement switches are available at any R&S Strauss, AutoZone, Advance Auto or any aut parts store.
The original housing is removed by loosening the 2 screws on the rear, taking apart the housing and clipping the wires. There will be enough slack to re-route them to the new position under the dash. The metal bracket which held the housing has to be cut. I used a hacksaw blade. Once you cut about halfway the metal will break if it is bent back and forth a few times. Just be careful not to scratch the dash with the blade by placing a peice of cardboard or rag on it.
Next you have to make the 2 holes for the switches with the correct drill bit. Then the wires attach to the new switches and install and enjoy!
These switches come in different colors, a few days later I found a carbon fiber one and changed it from th red. |
